In 2020 in the midst of protest and unrest I had an idea. Black Women have been the backbone of community and movements even without the credit and I knew on the frontlines of protest we were in danger but I wanted to do something. So I did what I do best: I created a visual. This photo was a protest, it was a statement, it was a powerful message and it still is.
Even with all of the beauty and power in this photo the biggest comment I get about it is still to this day "I did not know there were so many Black Women in Sonoma County" There are only SIXTEEN Black women in this photo. The anger I feel when I get this ignorant comment is red hot and my determination behind the photo has not changed. It was always my intention to add more Black Women to the Photo and to share the stories of Black Women.
The Photo has been Updated and this time it has more than doubled. I would like to have you join me as I share the updated photo in a morning reception. I want people to see the photos and hear the stories of the Black Women Represented.
All are invited and children are welcomed
